Podcast Series
2015-2021
Poppa Squash is a shape-shifting, semi-improvised podcast that wanders between parody, philosophy, and sound collage. It is an exploration of the podcast format as a distributed performance space. Each episode unfolds as a speculative broadcast from an alternate intergalactic version of America. It is a place where folklore, pop culture, and absurdity blend into surreal commentary on how we construct meaning through media, how systems communicate, how attention circulates, and how play becomes a tool for critical reflection.
Created by Britt Moseley and Sean Petell, the series began with the format of talk radio and home-made synthesizers to blur the boundaries between sincerity and satire, music and talk show. The 100+ episodes range from mock product launches and self-help sermons to sitcom parodies and interviews with imaginary experts. The result is a playful media ecology that is handmade and hyper-mediated. Poppa Squash can be streamed on any podcast platform.
