Titan Arum (Corpse Flower) Planter
Stoneware with Underglaze and Glaze
18 x 18 x 18 in.
2017

The reliefs on each side of the planter represent stages in the life cycle of the corpse flower. The plant begins the cycle as a seed and goes dormant underground for a prolonged period of time. When it decides to bloom, the seed births a humongous flower that smells like rotting fleash. This flower stays active for a few days and then begins the process anew.
