Slabs and Vertical Sculptures

A series of ceramic sculptures created from thick chunks of clay. In form they resemble mountains or tombstones, and are essentially gigantic glaze test tiles. Their simple surface is ideal for experimental glaze layering. This paired with their concrete, yet allusive form, lends an enigmatic quality. As the series developed, I turned toward the idea of collaging ceramic elements on the surface. The works are generally made out of high fire stoneware and reduction fired glazes between the years 2015-2018.
