Buena Vista: The Audio Visual Environment
26 x 15 x 10 ft.
Storefront Installation and Performance Venue
2021

Pictured is the exterior view of a storefront retail space inside of the Columbus Circle 59th St. Subway Station (New York, NY.) temporarily turned into an installation and performance space for the month of November, 2021. The video projections on the wall are sourced from video cameras pointed into the homemade plexiglas dioramas. The signal was sometimes altered with analog video filters and image generators, using the video itself as a sculptural medium. Free weekly performances of Buena Vista were held on Sunday evenings. The project was funded with a grant from the City Arts Corps to encourage public art in NYC during the city’s COVID recovery.
